We support families and professionals impacted by child or adolescent on parent abuse.

"We were limited to where we could go because of his behaviour. He would accuse me of lying to him. He would wear me down and he would tell lies about me. If I asked him to brush his teeth, one day it would be ok, the next he would swear at me and refuse. He would spit at me, he punched holes in doors"

Do you change how you parent for fear of what may happen?

Do you walk on Eggshells?

Are you in fear of your child?

CAPA (Child or Adolescent to Parent Abuse) is a 'First Response' service to families and professionals impacted by a child using abusive or violent behaviour in the home.

In this instance 'Parent' is anyone taking on the caring responsibility for a child under the age of 18 years or 25 years if there is a secondary diagnosis including ASD, ADHD or a learning disability.

Advice like this on the phone is incredible, something I have been looking for for ages. Thank you.

The sessions really helped me understand where the behaviour was coming from, being less scared of it and more able to help my son.

Capa has been working behind the scenes to raise awareness and be involved in capturing the issues that lay behind the issue of child to parent abuse. We were in London meeting Sadiq Kahn and the Violence Reduction Unit to look at a  ground breaking report published on 12th April.  The report reveals that at least 40%of parents who experience abuse by their child refuse to report the issue. It goes on to report the lack of awareness around this issue and the gaps in provision to help families.

Join us on May 18th for a 3 hour professionals webinar.
10.00-1.00pm - via Zoom
This 3 hour event will look at identifying child to parent abuse and providing strategies to support families.
